The Ebonit Saxophone Quartet, young musicians from Amsterdam, play classical string quartets on saxophones in their own sensitive and inspiring arrangements. The quartet was founded in 2011, the four musicians all studied at the Dutch NSKA string quartet academy and additionally completed solo classes with the renowned saxophonist Arno Bornkamp at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Since then, the four have successfully toured the major European concert halls and won numerous awards. “The Ebonit Quartet plays this music without a twang and other types of obtrusiveness, instead, their style is characterised by many finely drawn lines, a clear distribution of parts, thumping bass foundations, sighing top parts and subtle trills.“ (Concerti magazine)
